Things you've saved
I am a pack rat. I keep so much stuff that it's just overflowing. Some if it is junk, but so much of it has sentimental value - at least to me!
Here are 10 things I have saved....
1. My Judy Blume books from when I was a kid
(stored in a crate in the basement)
2. A flower made from a plastic cup and pipe cleaner from my sister
3. Tickets from Broadway shows and concerts
4. The little metal pass from the Metropolitan Museum of Art (2000)
5. Every newspaper article I have written.
6. Matt's orange Old Navy T-shirt (heck I bought it)
7. 3D glasses from a happy meal (from college)
8. The Pluto doll I have had since I was a baby
9. Papers I wrote in college
10. Ballet slippers and tap shoes from dancing school

Oh man, do I even want to think about this? Some are silly and some are sentimental...
1. Brad's Sigma Nu flag football jersey
2. The stuffed tiger that I slept with as a child (now Katherine has it)
3. Ticket stubs from the Billy Joel/Elton John tour in 1995
4. Every box I've ever gotten from Amazon or Barnes & Noble.com because "I might need to ship something to someone someday"
5. The hose I wore in my wedding and haven't worn since
6. My Lionette jacket (high school drill team), one of my uniforms, three or four of our t-shirts and the tassels from my boots
7. Several dresses from when I was a little girl - that now my girls get to wear (thanks, Mom!)
8. "A Portrait of Gina Martin in Words" - written my junior year of high school by one of my Creative Writing classmates. We had to write "portraits" of the classmate whose name we drew out of a hat
9. 3.5" disks - I have three or four boxes of them.
10. CDs of old, outdated, updated or replaced software.
I'm trying to become a reformed packrat, but there are still things I can't seem to get rid of (Gina, I keep Amazon and drugstore.com boxes too!!)
1. Ticket stubs for every movie, theater show, and concert I've seen - in my life. I have a huge tin full.
2. My manuscripts from music I wrote in college. Some are totally illegible scribbles.
3. A small red button I found on my first trip to Hawaii.
4. Jars. I have an incredible weakness for glass jars, and way too many in my house.
5. The packaging from a $2 nightlight that has a lifetime warranty.
6. A box of sanddollars picked up on a vacation several years ago (and never taken out of the box again)
7. My binder from college, still with assorted assignments and scribbles inside. It even has a vandalized cover - I went to Biola, but altered the binder to say "Ebola".
8. Dead houseplants. There are 3 out my window right now. 3 down, 4 to go! LOL!
9. A Led Zeppelin CD mix Dave made for me when we were dating. The CD was a bad burn, and he made me another one, but I kept the original anyway.
10. Wine corks from every bottle of wine we've had.
OMG, I am so hopeless!! Now I'm going to have to go clean. :p
Wow lot's of stuff!!

5)TONSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS of magazines...cooking light, food and wine, health, etc
6)clothes I will never will wear again...just when do I think I will be a size 4 again...I was working 2 jobs, teaching kickboxing and step 6times a week and never ever ate anything but greens, chicken and drank water.

These lists are amazing...seems like everyone's got a little packrat in them :D.
1. An old snuggly sweatshirt that hubby wore all the time in highschool.
2. A piece of wrapping paper from every present I received at Avery's baby shower (hey I'm gonna scrapbook with them someday :-P)
3. Ribbons from each of my high school dance corsages.
4. Each essay that I've had to write for all of my Level 2 (Honors) English classes since 6th grade.
5. A heart shaped glass paperweight that my mom gave me, which has a pic of my dad in his blue, lol, prom tuxedo.
6. Fortune cookie fortune from Avery's first fortune cookie...no pictures of said occassion just the fortune. :-P
7. A Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band throw (blanket) that has been seriously over loved (read hole-ie)...but it still keeps me warm and feels cozy.
8. The instruction manual to every toy my children have, regardless of wether or not they have a warrentee.
9. Pictures...over 14000 of them in the storage drive and backup discs alone. I just can't delete the bad ones. :-P
10. And the strangest...the old nasty yellow-gold marching band helmet I wore in highschool. I raised the most money when we were doing a uniform drive and the prize was $100. I told the instructor to keep the money and give me helmet which I'd had to wear every game for 3 years.
Ok, this is a truly scary question for a pack rat who is married to an even bigger pack rat. I mean, really, this list could go on for days, but...
1) my rock box & high school stuff -- a box of music related stuff that I started collecting in high school (concert programs, magazine clippings on bands I loved, posters that used to adorn my walls, old concert t-shirts, every concert ticket stub from every concert I've attended, and... this is the best... the 150 page letter I wrote to Simon LeBon of Duran Duran my junior year in high school that my friend's mom never mailed [along with her letter to Nick Rhodes] and I got back years later); my high school yearbooks, photo albums, my marching band jacket and tassles from my flag corp boots; tassle from my graduation mortar board
2) college stuff - old text books from fave and major classes, old class notes, all of my sorority stuff and sorority scrapbook, yearbooks, letters and cards from college friends, and my day planners from every year which are essentially my "diaries" from that time, tons of t-shirts and sweatshirts from that era that haven't seen the light of day in 15 years or more, photo albums, tassle from my graduation mortar board
3) my favorite childhood books, kidnapped from my parents' attic recently
4) my clarinet (I played through 10th grade, then stopped)
5) the jewelry box I had on my dresser while I was growing up, complete with the contents intact (all costume jewelry and junky stuff is left in there, but I haven't been able to toss it yet -- it's shaped like a little house)
6) several boxes full of stuff my DH has given me since we started dating and every since -- cards, notes, letters, etc. etc. I save everything he writes me or gives me.
7) a huge basket (and actually I just transferred this to a larger basket about a week ago) full of all of the flowers my husband has ever given me, dried and saved. We've been married almost fourteen years, so it's a TON of dried flowers (from birthdays, anniversaries, just because), virtually all red roses.
7a) a shoebox with the dried flowers from my wedding in it and the dried bouquet I carried as a bridesmaid in my brother's wedding.
7a.1) all of the bridesmaid dresses I've worn in weddings.
8) everything I picked up during our trip to Scotland that didn't make it into the scrapbook I made when we got home (brochures, pamphlets, maps, booklets, not-so-great photos, etc. etc. etc.)
9) the piggy bank I got from my great grandmother when I was a baby (it's now a decorative accessory on the bedside table in our guest room)
10) every copy of Mary Engelbreit's Home Companion magazine since the magazine debuted almost 10 years ago... I have every single one.
That doesn't begin to cover what I've saved, though, scary enough.
I stumbled across your site while snooping through digital scrapping blogs. Thanks for the silly inspiration...and for making me feel like I'm not the only packrat!
